As she waits for her plane to board, she reflects on how much she loves the feel of the painted silk twill draped around her neck. The intricate pattern in the equine scarf reminds her of the Henna drawn on her hands. It takes her back to last week, the festivities steeped in tradition, the abundance of food, the invigorating music and dancing, and mostly the sheer joy of being a part of an Indian wedding. What a perfect parting gift from her friend- this scarf. Though the henna on her hands has already started to fade, her happy memories come rushing back every time she wears her accessory.
A whispered memory resonates within her as she wraps a luxurious silk scarf around her shoulders. Yin and Yang, fire and water, opposites but completing each other, their duality integrating into a whole. She thinks of him as he had gently placed the scarf around her before he had left, with a promise to return. The blue and red manes of the painted horses in the Art Scarf tie up at the ends in a perfect knot and she is pleased with her appearance. A candlelit dinner for two, soft music in the background and she is ready as the doorbell chimes.
Rushing out of the doors, she hails a taxi, climbs in and glances at her watch. A few more minutes and she would have been late for the meeting. She opens her compact mirror, checks her lipstick and adjusts the ascot knot of her silk scarf over her crisp white shirt. The word “women” shows amongst the greys and reds of the scarf and she allows herself a smile. She feels confident when she wears this scarf, knowing she is helping in a small way, and today especially she needs that poise and self assurance. The scarf helps fight domestic violence and a portion of the proceeds is donated to the cause, read more about this here.

She steps out on the deck of the ship in her scarf tied Jackie O style, and feels the sea breeze on her upturned face. The brilliant blue of the water matches her silk accessory almost to the perfect shade. It had been a thoughtful gift from her mother as she embarked on her adventure and the galloping horses painted on the scarf had instantly appealed to her sense of adventure. Leaning on the rail, the scarf flutters in the wind as she watches the hypnotic motion of the waves and feels content in the moment, awaiting the journey ahead.
The glass of rosé sits on her cafe table untouched as she watches the pedestrians, lovers holding hands, people strolling by the Seine. There is no sense of urgency here. The cafe has long been a favorite for them and she sits there absentmindedly twirling the end of her silk scarf around her neck. It had been a long road and it seemed eons ago, or maybe just yesterday, when she sat here alone and a dashing stranger had stopped by and asked to join her. She wonders if he remember, she had worn this painted silk that fateful day. She considered it her good luck charm, with the little red and blue Buddha pattern lining the edge. Smiling, she takes out a matching pocket scarf and tucks it in his jacket pocket and he laughs and leans over to give her a kiss, leaving her in no doubt of his memories.
