The air is charged with excitement as she takes her seat next to her friends, dressed in a pale pink shift dress. Before running out the door, she tied her silk twill scarf to her large brimmed hat;perfect for the Derby. Conscious of the well-dressed crowd around her, she feels completely confident in her choice of the luxurious silk accessory. The Orchid pink in the painted scarf is striking against the white of her hat. As she turns to see the gates lift, the crowd is on its enthusiastic feet , and she’s swept up with them. She’s buzzing with the thrill of the hoofs beating down the track.
The airport lounge is packed with travelers, some weary and some with excitement reflected in their eyes. Sipping her coffee, she lightly wraps the silk scarf a little closer to her neck. She had worn the scarf as a wrap for her swimsuit yesterday and as a halter at her farewell party afterwards. The decorated elephants on the scarf will always remind her of the land she had come to love. Her home for a few months, Thailand will always be close to her heart.
Memories of the Indian safari flit through her mind as she takes a scarf out of its box. The painted silk feels luxurious under her fingers as she relives her tropical journey. The peacock feathers, the cobra and the mysterious girl hold her thoughts as she decides how to style her scarf. In the end, she drapes it over a shoulder and knots the scarf, showing off the artwork. She puts the finishing touch on a perfectly set table by placing a bouquet of fresh jasmine, and stands back to admire it, satisfied. There is certainly nothing like dinner with old friends discussing the amazing shared experience of an exotic land, and her Art Scarf will certainly be a conversation piece.
Impeccably dressed in a black chiffon blouse and blue palazzo pants, she lovingly touches the silk scarf knot at her neck. It picks up the colors of her outfit so perfectly. The red and black pattern complement her blouse and she pauses as she adjusts the luxurious piece of art around her. The blue Buddha peaks through the wrapped silk, just above the beautiful pico edge. She glances at the clock by the dresser, picks up her clutch, and slips out of the door. She must not keep him waiting. She smiles, happy and excited.
A whispered memory resonates within her as she wraps a luxurious silk scarf around her shoulders. Yin and Yang, fire and water, opposites but completing each other, their duality integrating into a whole. She thinks of him as he had gently placed the scarf around her before he had left, with a promise to return. The blue and red manes of the painted horses in the Art Scarf tie up at the ends in a perfect knot and she is pleased with her appearance. A candlelit dinner for two, soft music in the background and she is ready as the doorbell chimes.
As she waits for her plane to board, she reflects on how much she loves the feel of the painted silk twill draped around her neck. The intricate pattern in the equine scarf reminds her of the Henna drawn on her hands. It takes her back to last week, the festivities steeped in tradition, the abundance of food, the invigorating music and dancing, and mostly the sheer joy of being a part of an Indian wedding. What a perfect parting gift from her friend- this scarf. Though the henna on her hands has already started to fade, her happy memories come rushing back every time she wears her accessory.
He hands his car keys to the valet and steps on the dock for the evening cruise. Picking up a glass of champagne, he spots a colleague and strolls over to say hello. The silk pocket square tucked in his blazer looks stylish but still nonchalant. He doesn't have the time to stress over what he’s wearing; matching his shirts to his accessories takes time that he does not have. But ever since he discovered the collection of art pocket squares, getting dressed is a breeze. It’s always easy to find the one that will complement any shirt in his closet. A perfect finishing touch.

The myriad of colors in the silk is strikingly beautiful as she ties her scarf around a straw hat and dons her colorful accessory to protect against the sweltering heat of the Indian sun. The scenic beaches of Goa are beyond her expectations and the soft sand feels like powder as she wiggles her feet deeper in it. A day spent sunbathing by the sparkling waters, she slips on a pair of loose linen pants, unties the silk scarf, and folds the hat into her bag. She now wears the painted scarf halter style, and is ready for the evening ahead as she strolls towards the soft strands of the guitar nearby.
A lunch date with the girls, a perfect way to spend her one free afternoon. She checks her reflection in the store window as she walks by, and gives a satisfied smile. The beige silk of her Art Scarf folded and draped over her rust colored shirt pairs perfectly with her favorite tailored denim and suede blazer. She loves the way the henna pattern of the scarf and the rolled rust hem contrasts against the solid colors of her shirt and blazer. Stepping through the glass doors, she enters the cozy bistro and is greeted by a wave of hands; she walks over eager to rejoin her quartet, her pinot noir already waiting.
Rushing out of the doors, she hails a taxi, climbs in and glances at her watch. A few more minutes and she would have been late for the meeting. She opens her compact mirror, checks her lipstick and adjusts the ascot knot of her silk scarf over her crisp white shirt. The word “women” shows amongst the greys and reds of the scarf and she allows herself a smile. She feels confident when she wears this scarf, knowing she is helping in a small way, and today especially she needs that poise and self assurance. The scarf helps fight domestic violence and a portion of the proceeds is donated to the cause, read more about this here.
