The IT, the NEW and the NOW
“Today you are you, that’s truer than true, there is NO ONE alive that is youer than you”- Dr.Suess
It has always been my passion, painting.
I have painted for the sheer enjoyment of it, painted to de-stress through difficult times in my life, and painted to relax an overtaxed mind.
The creativity that flows though the fingers via the brush onto a blank canvas takes me on a journey to a better and happier place.
The ideas emerge from what I call my “trinity”: the heart, mind and soul. Most of my paintings have multiple layers of meaning in them. (maybe I’ll tackle them in another post!)
My years of growing up in India have definitely influenced my work, and while I am not a very religious person, religion especially Hinduism and Buddhism fascinate me…as do people.
So, what is new? I took the step this year. After years of fantasizing about it, I did something with my passion. I have dedicated more than 20 years of my career life to medicine… no regrets, but it was time to do what I really wanted to do. Mid-life crisis? Maybe!
I love fashion (I guess you are okay if your teenage daughter wants to borrow your clothes!) and… I came up with a NEW concept about sharing my artwork in a new form.
I started digitally reproducing my work on scarves, printed on high quality silk. A luxurious fashion statement for the woman of today.
The Fashion is NOW, the colors are NOW and for me..what now?
I am busy, studying harder than ever, exploring options, marketing, advertising,(google adwords/ facebook/market places ads.. you name it)
approaching galleries, looking into partnering with a charity close to my heart so I can give back.
Is it worth it? Absolutely! I have had wonderful responses and encouragement from family, friends, acquaintances and complete strangers!
So, for all of you thinking of following your dreams- DO IT.
To end with another of Dr. Suess’ lines
“ Will YOU succeed? YES you will, indeed 98 and 3/4 percent GUARANTEED!”
