PARIS
One of my favorite cities in the world, and I was lucky enough to go there with my husband three years ago to celebrate a special birthday!
We stayed in a beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of Paris hotel De Vendome right by the Place Vendome, one of the most luxurious squares that was walking distance from a number of major attractions. Contrary to popular belief, the Parisans are extremely friendly. I would suggest (if like us, you do not know French) to learn a few introductory greetings and phrases. A simple “bonjour” goes a long way..they see you are making an effort!
I had always wanted to visit the Louvre, and it was everything I imagined it to be and more. My poor husband was dragged to several different museums but we both agreed that our personal favorite was Musee de l’Orangerie. The oval rooms with the Monet masterpieces are absolutely breathtaking. One can sit on the benches provided in the middle of the room and lose all sense of time. I promise you it is worth a visit.
Not to forget the stroll by the Siene, walking up to
A really cool place we ate at was Les Ambassadeurs at the famous Hotel De Crillon, which is currently closed for renovation till 2015. I remember getting a menu with no price listing. I whispered about it to my husband, turns out he had the prices listed on his! They expect the man to pay! I can think of some feminist friends of mine who might have a serious issue with that!
Would you have a problem with that menu?
What is your favorite city?
